These Terms explain how I provide my services. They are written for clarity and are not legal advice. Your specific arrangements will also be set out in your personal contract/booking confirmation.

1) Services & Availability
Every family is unique, so the exact nature of support may vary to meet your needs. Availability is confirmed once your booking is accepted; any dates discussed beforehand are indicative only.

2) Pricing
Fees are agreed on a case-by-case basis and will be clearly shown in your personal contract before you commit. Prices are in GBP and include any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. If an error is identified during booking, you’ll be informed and can proceed at the correct fee or cancel.

3) Booking & Confirmation
A contract is formed when written confirmation is sent and the deposit is paid. Your confirmation will include: services booked, agreed fees/expenses, and key dates or timelines. Paper copies available on request.

4) Payments
A 50% deposit is payable on booking to secure your dates. The balance and any agreed expenses are set out in your contract and invoice. Payments must be made by the methods stated in your invoice. 50% final payment will be invoiced at 37 weeks. Should your baby arrive before 37 weeks the final payment is still liable.

5) Changes & Cancellations
Your changes: Please email any change requests before services begin; agreed changes will be confirmed in writing.
My cancellations: If I need to cancel due to circumstances beyond my control, I’ll notify you promptly and refund any fees paid for services not yet provided.
Refunds: Refunds are made via the original payment method unless we agree otherwise.
Pregnancy loss: If services are no longer needed due to pregnancy loss, I will always respond with compassion and aim to refund the portion of your fee for support not yet provided.

6) Service Standards
I promise to provide care with kindness, professionalism and in line with best practice. Very occasionally antenatal appointments may need to be rescheduled if I am attending another client’s birth; I will always work with you to find a new time. If I am unexpectedly unavailable for your birth, your named back-up doula will attend; if they are also unavailable, I will try to offer another trusted doula. If no doula can attend, 50% of your booking fee will be reimbursed.

7) What I Do Not Provide (Scope & Boundaries)
As a doula I do not: carry out clinical/midwifery tasks; provide medical advice or interpret test results; diagnose or make clinical decisions; override or make decisions for you; replace your partner’s role; pressure you towards any option; guarantee outcomes or a pain-free labour; or accept responsibility for clinical outcomes, which remain with your healthcare team. My role is to help you feel informed, supported and empowered.

8) Communication
Questions, changes or concerns?
Email: louise@thepeacefuldoula.co.uk | Tel: 07973 496 092
I aim to reply within 2 business days.

9) Events Outside My Control (Force Majeure)
Illness, extreme weather, transport disruption or wider events (e.g., strikes, pandemics) can sometimes affect plans. I’ll keep you informed and reschedule where possible. If rescheduling isn’t possible, fees for services not yet provided will be refunded.

10) Important Notes & Disclaimers
My guidance and resources are for support and encouragement, not a substitute for medical care. Always speak to your midwife/doctor with concerns. Any movements or techniques should be used only if you feel well and your healthcare team confirms they’re safe for you. I cannot accept responsibility for injury or for personal decisions made during pregnancy, labour or birth. Please listen to your body and seek professional advice if unsure.

11) Intellectual Property
All written materials and resources I provide remain my property. They’re for your personal use only and must not be copied, shared or reproduced without permission.

12) Data & Privacy (UK GDPR)
Your details are stored securely and used only to manage your booking and provide services. I never sell your information. You can request to view, amend or delete your data. See my Privacy Policy for full details.

13) Complaints & Feedback
I welcome feedback. If you’re unhappy with any aspect of the service, please contact me promptly so I can try to resolve matters informally. If we can’t resolve your concern, I’ll provide details of any relevant professional or regulatory routes.

14) Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where that would be unlawful (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, liability for services provided is limited to the total amount paid for the relevant services.

15) Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the law of England & Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, your local consumer protections also apply.

16) Changes to These Terms
I may update these Terms from time to time (for example, if the law changes). Updates will be posted on the website and apply to new bookings from the date of posting. Where changes affect an existing booking, I’ll notify you and seek your agreement where required.
